The work
Built across six weeks, in slow weight.
Cream and titanium white pulled into a single high mass against a warm taupe ground, then partially excavated to a single copper line that runs the length of the painting like a horizon held just long enough to read.
Built over twelve to fourteen palette-knife sessions across six weeks. Belgian linen, hand-stretched on a pine bar, primed in three coats of rabbit-skin glue and chalk gesso. The copper is oxidised leaf laid into wet medium and sealed under a thin acrylic varnish.
Reads as one tonal weight from across a room — the white pulls the eye first, the taupe holds it, the copper releases. Lives well above a long sofa or in a hallway where it is met at three meters.
